Loredo Taft’s Fountain of the Great Lakes features five nymphs representing lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario. Their water flows from one shell to another, just as the lakes flow into each other. It’s a peaceful spot in the heart of the bustling Loop. There’s a crazy story behind the sculpture, but I’ll share that another day…
