Spring is springing in Chicago! It’s so lovely to see blue skies, colorful flowers, and Chicagoans out and about. May is my birthday month, so I decided to feature a piece of art from my favorite neighborhood, Wicker Park.
While she didn’t live in Wicker Park, this mural by Eduardo Kobra features the enigmatic Chicago photographer Vivian Maier. Maier was a prolific photographer of life in Chicago; however, her work wasn’t discovered until late in her life. A storage locker of Maier’s film negatives was discovered at an auction house and brought her work to life.
Today, Maier’s photographs of life in mid-century Chicago are exhibited around the world. Learn more about Vivian Maier’s life and work.
