Welcome February! After a long, cold January in Chicago, I’m excited to be one moth closer to summer.
This month’s calendar heads to Bronzeville, the historic capital of African American culture in Chicago nicknamed the “Black Metropolis.” Local artists and students created the Bronzeville Renaissance mural in 2020.
The 120-foot-long artwork highlights historic Bronzeville residents like da B. Wells and Mayor Harold Washington. It also depicts present-day events and considers the future. Fittingly, the mural is located just steps away from the South Side Community Art Center, the first Black art museum in the United States.
How will you honor Black History Month?
