Taking the stage as one of the originators of chillwave, Toro y Moi’s lead knob-twister Chaz Bundick left the cold to the bitter winter night outside, heating things up with the synth-based enthusiasm of upbeat party starter “Rose Quartz.” The band kept the sold-out audience hopping along to the funky electro pop beats splattered throughout new release Anything In Return while incorporating fan favorites “New Beat” and “Still Sound” into the crowd-pleasing mix. As usual, Bundick calmly commanded the dance floor from behind the keyboard as he continued his reign as one of the genre’s leading examples of a new style of frontman who is somehow amped up and laid back all at the same time.
