Photo of Urban Explorer's favorite posts of 2016

For the past few years, I’ve posted a roundup of my most memorable articles of the year. It’s a fun way to reflect on all the stories I’ve had the opportunity to tell through words and photos. I hope you enjoy this year’s list. Looking forward to a wonderful 2017!

A Book to Inspire Your Chicago Bucket List

I’m always looking for ways to dig deeper into Chicago’s cultural richness and Molly Page’s book was full of ideas. It was a pleasure to review the book and interview Molly to hear about her writing process.

Step Inside Chicago’s Historic Architecture

Open House Chicago is my favorite weekend of the year. The Chicago Architecture Foundation gets you free access to over 200 sites in Chicago that are normally off-limits. It’s a great way explore my own neighborhood and others around the city, and this year I shared my photos from the weekend with Chicagoist.

Pitchfork Music Festival 2016

I’ve been attending and covering Pitchfork Music Festival for years. This year, however, I rounded up a team of music-loving friends and covered the festival exclusively for Urban Explorer readers!

Montreal Mini-Adventure

My first trip to Montreal was full of surprises. I shared a quick guide to a fun day of eating, drinking, and playing for my dear friends at RAD AND HUNGRY.

Where to Eat and Drink in Milwaukee

Milwaukee is one of my favorite food towns. A mecca for beer, cheese, and sausage the city is one after this Midwestern girl’s own heart. I shared a few of my favorite bites in a Milwaukee food guide for Chicagoist.

History on Exhibit in ‘Downton Abbey’ Costumes

I know I’m not the only history and vintage fashion geek mourning the end of a certain British period drama. Seeing the Downton Abbey costumes close-up and learning about their creation and historical relevance at Chicago’s grand Driehaus Museum was a splendid send-off.
