Chicago Scavenger Featured in the Chicago Tribune

Author Jessica Mlinaric in Chicago

The best part of writing a book is sharing it. You can imagine how thrilled I was when journalist Darcel Rockett reached out about sharing my new book Chicago Scavenger in the Chicago Tribune!

Darcel covered my first book, Secret Chicago, back in 2018 with a headline no one will ever top! It was great to hear that she was following my work and interested in my latest project.

We caught up by phone where I shared the idea for the book, how I approached choosing the Chicago neighborhoods and scavenger hunt sites, and what I hope readers gain from the book.

After our conversation, I dashed over to a photo shoot! Despite a grey and windy day, I chose a colorful spot from the book to highlight. Chicago’s yellow brick road is featured on a hunt in Chicago Scavenger! For someone who is usually behind the camera, it was strange to try and pose but the photographer was patient.
