‘Secret Chicago’ Book Launch Party

The Drifter is featured in the Secret Chicago book

Hello friends! To celebrate the release of my first book, Secret Chicago: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure, I’ll be hosting a party this Sunday. Please join us in Chicago on May 6 at The Drifter (676-8 N. Orleans St.) from 2-5 p.m.

A Speakeasy Fit for Secret Chicago

The Drifter is a speakeasy hidden below the Green Door Tavern, that actually operated during Prohibition. The Drifter is featured in Secret Chicago and I couldn’t imagine a better place to celebrate Chicago’s unusual stories and hidden gems!

Entertainment

These days, the bar features craft cocktails and unique entertainment, and I’m thrilled that hula hoop artist Samantha Siren will be performing at the book launch party! Check her out below.

Fabulous Prizes

The book will be available for purchase at the event, and I’ll be signing copies. You’ll receive a ticket for every book purchased at the party (and if you show a receipt of purchase elsewhere) to be entered into the Secret Chicago raffle. We’ve assembled a collection of AMAZING prizes from places featured in the book! Raffle prizes include:

  • One-night stay at the InterContinental Chicago hotel
  • A pair of tickets to a Lincoln Hall or Schuba’s show
  • A private Pedway tour for four by Chicago Elevated
  • A gift certificate for Woolly Mammoth Chicago Antiques & Oddities
  • A private tour for six of Edgar Miller’s Glasner Studio
  • A pack of 826CHI publications featuring the writing of Chicago students
  • Gift certificates for Southport Lanes and Burnt City Brewing

Let’s Celebrate

Come and say hi, get a book signed (these will make great gifts for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and new grads), and celebrate the weirdness that we love about Chicago. The event is free to attend and you can RSVP on Facebook.

Thank you SO MUCH for supporting and celebrating the new book! If you can’t make it, the book is available at secretchicagobook.com. Check out the events page for other upcoming Secret Chicago appearances.

Can’t wait to see you this Sunday!
